"this time i did not argue"
Tumblr media
HE MISSES HIM, HE MISSES HIM REALLY.
(if you look close enough you can see monk smiling like his crush just asked him out & randy wondering why the fuck his boss is glad to see monk, what happened to bros before... sweet, fragile mr. monk, huh captain, huh??)

Hello! i don't mean to be rude or anything im just genuinely wondering
why do people like to ship two men that barely have any intimate scenes? like I'm watching monk, and there are a bunch of scenes between monk and Natalie that made me think that the fandom would be shipping them. but icome here and people are mostly shipping monk with the captain, which is cute i guess but i don't get it.
hello dear, that's alright! i get you.
anyway, i take it that you're either new to shipping or you haven't watched the entire series yet.
Shipping is not always lit from the ideas about romance. sometimes it is not about the amount of devotion, it's about the color. the FLAVOR of it all. Shipping isn't trying to explain why a relationship is actually canon. It's not even trying to explain why it should or could have been canon. Shipping is thinking "wouldn't it be interesting if these two were together?"
You can ship characters for the dynamic of it. You can ship characters who have only appeared on screen together one, single time for 15 seconds even. how intimate characters are in a show doesn't always equate to them immediately being shipped. which, ofc, is why a multitude of ships always exist.
now, in regards to Natalie, i actually DID explore shipping Natalie and Adrian and it wasn't very exciting for me. it's as simple as that. and i guess, everyone who does ship stottlemonk either feels the same or actually does ship BOTH ships or they have their own reasons where they don't ship Natalie/Adrian at all.
the main reason why i also mention and ask if you've watched the entire series is because apart from the factor of intimacy coming to play - Adrian and Leland have known each other a long time.
his patience for Adrian feels never-ending. His support for Adrian is always constant and vice versa for Adrian. They care for each other. They have chemistry. They see each other for who they are. They never want to be the cause of each other's hurt. They want the best for each other.
and to me, that's enough to ship them. one of these reasons is enough for me to ship them.
You don't have to get it of course. no one can ever fully gets anything 100%. even multishippers have ships they just can't see themselves shipping. i myself have ships i just don't get what the excitement is all about. but ship and let ship, have fun and enjoy is how i approach ship and fandom.
i hope i answered you well enough ( ´ ꒳ ` )
